Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS A NOTARY PUBLIC?

A Notary Public is a public official whose powers and duties are defined by statute. A notary acts as an official, unbiased witness to the identity and signature of the person who comes before the notary for a specific purpose. The person may be taking an oath, giving oral or written testimony, or signing or acknowledging his or her signature on a legal document. In each case, the notary attests that certain formalities have been observed.

WHAT IS MOBILE NOTARY?

A mobile notary public is a notary that travels to your home or agreed location to witness the signature of the person who comes before the notary for a specific purpose.

WHY DO I NEED ONE?

Acting as an impartial witness, the Notary Public ensures that the signers of the documents are who they say they are. The Notary makes sure the signers have entered into the agreement knowingly and willingly.

MAY A NOTARY GIVE LEGAL ADVICE OR DRAFT LEGAL DOCUMENTS?

No. All states prohibit non-attorneys from practicing law.

WHO ARE YOUR NOTARIAL SERVICES OFFERED TO?

Our Mobile Notary Services are offered to anyone or any business that needs notary services.

CAN MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES, BIRTH OR DEATH CERTIFICATES BE NOTARIZED?

Virginia notaries are NOT authorized to notarize and certify true copies of these documents at this time.

WHAT FORMS OF ID'S DO YOU ACCEPT?

Notaries accept a variety of documents. A current driver's license, passport, non-driver's license ID or military ID is always acceptable. All government issued IDs are acceptable.

WHAT IS A NOTARY PUBLIC SIGNING AGENT?

A notary public loan signing agent is a notary public who walks a borrower through a set of loan documents when they purchase or refinance their home. A loan signing agent ensures that the borrower has filled out their mortgage paperwork properly — making certain each document is signed, dated, or notarized appropriately.

WHAT SERVICE AREA DO YOU COVER?

We conveniently service the following areas in Northern Virginia: Loudoun County and Fairfax County. All other areas outside of our service area will be accessed on a case by case base.

DOES NOTARIZATION MEAN THAT A DOCUMENT IS "TRUE" OR "LEGAL"?

No. Notaries are not responsible for the accuracy or legality of documents they notarize. Notaries certify the identity of signers. The signers are responsible for the content of the documents.
